From: January 2013
Orla Gartland is a 20 year old singer-songwriter from Dublin, Ireland. On the 11th of November 2013 she released her first ever EP ‘Roots’, which stormed its way to number 1 in the Irish iTunes chart and achieved top 100 status in various other countries. Having worked with Orla before and thoroughly enjoyed it, I jumped at the opportunity to be a part of her first big steps into the music industry.
I kept in close contact with Orla and her manager, Daniel, to create a homepage, tour dates page and a rewards system for people who shared a link to the EP via twitter and Facebook. I also managed a rewards email account, created a brand new YouTube banner and altered the EP artwork for a special 8-bit version of the EP that was released on December 8th, 2013.
I continue to update Orla’s website to make sure it contains the freshest information, and I hope to continue our partnership for a long time.
“In November 2013 I released my very first EP. I had a concept for a website to accompany the release – it involved giving a series downloadable rewards to followers of mine that completed certain tasks – sharing or tweeting the link to the music video for example. I’m utterly clueless when it came to web design and knew it wouldn’t be an easy task – but the legend that is Dan Johnston stepped in and, without the bat of the eyelid, began building exactly the website I had dreamt up. Everything from the size of text to the positioning of pictures was thought out and altered to my preference – his patience really is just something else. I couldn’t be happier with [the website] and overall feel absolutely privileged to have stumbled across this talented, patient, hard-working web designer and new friend.”
